According to Jewish legend, Jophiel is a chief of the choir of Cherubim and is a companion to the angel Metatron, who is known as a Prince of Divine Presence. Jophiel is also one of the angels who created the world.
If he is a cherub or a throne, then according to Jewish law he is also a "prince of heaven" and is responsible for the maintenance of the seven heavens as well as the angelic choirs. Iofiel is ranked on par with Yefefiah when it comes to his status as a prince of the Torah (Divine Law).
Both Jophiel and Zadkiel are there to help Michael in the conflict. Additionally, he could be "the angelic prince of the Torah who is credited with teaching Moses the mystical teachings of the Kabbalah. He is referred to as a powerful archangel in several incantations written in Aramaic." In a number of different listings, including the one that the early medieval theologian pseudo-Dionysus compiled, he is referred to as an archangel.
He is defined as "a regent of Jupiter in Pisces and Sagittarius and a magnificent prince who leads fifty-three legions of angels," according to Paracelsus, who cites him as the intelligence of Jupiter (Yofiel). Saturn is under his dominion, and he shares that responsibility with Zaphkiel.
Yofiel is mentioned in the Bible as being the Angel who instructed Shem and the Prince of the Torah. He is also the head of the Mazzikin order, and Kafzefoni reports to him. He is described as the "preceptor angel to the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japhet" in the book "Angels in Art," where he is referred to by that name. According to Milton, he has "the swiftest wing of all the cherubim" (Paradise Lost VI, 535).
According to the Zohar, he is a Great Angel Chief. He is supported by 53 legions of angels of lower grades that serve him, and he oversaw the reading of the Torah on the Sabbath. According to the Kabala, he embodies the spirit of Jupiter whenever the planet is in the signs of Pisces or Sagittarius. In the book, he is described as "an angel who is invoked when manufacturing amulets," hence he is known as a "Amulet Angel." The phrase "To Yofiel the king of the mazzikin Kafzefoni must surrender" is used to call on him when making an amulet.
